Straightforward Moving Prices Without the Guesswork
Every move is different, but understanding how you’ll be charged shouldn’t be difficult. Most Mericle Movers jobs combine an hourly labor rate with a separate Transportation & Equipment Fee.
Typical moving crews of two to four movers generally range from $145 to $245 per hour. Smaller or larger crews may be available depending on the job—contact us for specific pricing.

How Our Local Moving Pricing Works
Most local moves are priced using two primary components:
Hourly Labor
Your hourly rate is based primarily on the number of movers assigned to the job.
Typical two-to-four-person crews generally range from $145 to $245 per hour. Your estimate will show the recommended crew size and applicable hourly rate.
The labor clock begins when our crew arrives at the starting location and ends when the agreed moving services are completed.
Transportation & Equipment Fee
A separate flat fee helps cover the truck, fuel, travel, standard moving equipment and other transportation-related expenses required for your move.
This fee varies based on factors such as:
Travel distance
Fuel costs
Number of locations
Truck and equipment requirements
Total transportation expenses
The type and size of the move
We calculate this fee specifically for your job and include it in your estimate before scheduling.
What’s Included in Standard Moving Service?
Most standard moving jobs include:
The agreed number of movers
Moving truck when transportation is included
Furniture pads and standard protective materials
Hand trucks and moving dollies
Basic moving tools
Loading and unloading
Furniture placement
Basic disassembly and reassembly when needed
Transportation between the approved locations
If your move requires specialty equipment, additional trucks or unusual handling, your estimate may be adjusted to reflect those requirements.
What Can Affect the Final Price?
The total cost depends mainly on the amount of time and resources required to complete the job.
Common factors include:
Amount of furniture and boxes
Number of movers
Travel distance
Stairs or elevators
Long walking distances
Furniture requiring disassembly
Additional pickup or delivery stops
Heavy or oversized items
Packing or unpacking assistance
Specialty equipment
Difficult parking or property access
We generally do not add separate fees simply because your move includes stairs, furniture assembly or an additional stop. However, these circumstances may increase the labor time required.
Additional mileage or stops may also affect the Transportation & Equipment Fee.
Extra-heavy, oversized or specialty items may require an additional charge, depending on the labor, equipment and risk involved. Please disclose these items when requesting your estimate.
Pricing by Service
Local Moving
Most local moves are billed at an hourly crew rate plus a separate Transportation & Equipment Fee.
Loading, Unloading & In-Home Moving
Labor-only services are generally priced hourly based on crew size and estimated time.
This includes loading or unloading rental trucks, PODS, portable containers and storage units, along with moving furniture within a home or business.
If Mericle Movers does not provide transportation, the applicable equipment or service fee will reflect the actual requirements of the job.
Long-Distance Moving
Long-distance moves receive customized pricing based on distance, travel time, crew requirements, inventory, transportation expenses and any overnight or scheduling requirements.
Depending on the move, pricing may be hourly, flat-rate or a combination explained in your written estimate.
Commercial & Business Moving
Commercial moves may be priced hourly or as a customized project estimate. Pricing depends on the crew, equipment, locations, access conditions, schedule and items being moved.
Packing & Unpacking
Packing and unpacking prices depend on the crew size, labor time, amount being packed and materials required. Your estimate will explain whether materials are included or charged separately.
Junk Removal & Cleanouts
Smaller pickups involving one or a few items may be quoted at a flat rate.
Larger cleanouts may be billed using an hourly labor rate plus a separate Hauling & Disposal Fee. This fee reflects transportation, disposal costs, item volume, weight and any special handling requirements.
Photos are usually the fastest way for us to evaluate a junk-removal project.
No Surprise Add-Ons
Before confirming your job, we’ll explain:
Recommended crew size
Applicable hourly rate or flat price
Estimated time range, when possible
Transportation & Equipment Fee
Hauling & Disposal Fee, when applicable
Known specialty-item or equipment charges
Any deposit required to reserve the job
Estimates are based on the information provided. Changes to the inventory, locations, access conditions, requested services or job requirements may affect the final price.
Deposits and Scheduling
A deposit is not required for every job. Depending on the move’s size, date, distance or scheduling requirements, a deposit of up to 25% may be required to reserve your appointment.
If a deposit is required, it will be shown before booking and applied toward the final balance.
The remaining balance is generally due immediately upon completion of service after the final labor time and charges have been calculated.
Payment Options
We accept:
Cash
Check
Credit or debit card
Venmo
Wire transfer
Card and wire payments can be completed through an emailed invoice. Cash and checks can be given to the lead crew member after the final amount has been calculated. Digital payments must be verified before the crew leaves.
A 3% processing fee applies to card payments. We do not currently offer additional discounts based on the selected payment method.
Tipping Your Moving Crew
Tipping is always appreciated, but it is never required or expected.
If you feel your crew provided excellent service, you’re welcome to tip whatever amount feels comfortable. Some customers choose a flat amount for each mover, while others tip a percentage of the final moving price.
Tips of up to approximately 10% of the total move price, divided among the crew, are common for customers who choose to tip. We have occasionally seen tips closer to 15–20% for exceptional service, but that is very generous and never expected.
The amount is entirely your decision. A positive review, referral, cold drinks or simply letting the crew know they did a great job is also greatly appreciated.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
We understand that closing dates, construction schedules and other moving plans can change.
Please notify us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Deposits are generally transferred when a job is rescheduled.
Depending on the timing and circumstances of a cancellation, some or all of a paid deposit may be retained to offset reserved labor, scheduling commitments and lost income. Any job-specific cancellation terms will be provided with your estimate or booking information.
Frequently Asked Pricing Questions
When does the hourly clock start and stop?
The labor clock begins when our crew arrives at the starting location and ends when the agreed moving services are completed.
Is travel time included in the hourly rate?
Travel and transportation expenses are generally accounted for through the separate Transportation & Equipment Fee rather than starting the labor clock before our crew arrives.
Are furniture pads and dollies included?
Standard furniture pads, hand trucks, dollies and basic moving tools are generally included. Specialty equipment may result in an additional charge when required.
Do you charge extra for stairs?
We generally do not add a separate stair fee. However, stairs can increase the time and labor required, which may affect the final total on an hourly job.
Do you charge extra to disassemble furniture?
Basic disassembly and reassembly generally do not carry a separate fee, but the time required is included in the billable labor time. Complex furniture or specialty assembly may require additional planning or pricing.
Will adding another stop cost extra?
We generally do not charge a separate stop fee. However, the additional labor time and mileage may increase the total and could affect the Transportation & Equipment Fee.
Is my estimate a guaranteed total?
Hourly estimates are based on the information available before the move and are not guaranteed totals. The final price depends on actual labor time, transportation requirements and any changes to the job.
Flat-rate services cover only the items, locations and work described in the approved estimate.
Can I receive a flat-rate estimate?
Some jobs—especially small moves, single-item deliveries, junk pickups and clearly defined projects—may qualify for flat-rate pricing. Larger or less predictable jobs are often better suited to hourly pricing.
Am I expected to tip the movers?
No. Tipping is optional and never required. If you’re pleased with the service, you may tip any amount you feel is appropriate. Some customers give each mover a flat amount, while others divide a percentage of the total move price among the crew.
